The journey of Nadi by G.C.City began behind closed doors at the 2019 Mekong Basin Architectural Innovation Triennial, a quiet, hyper-competitive gathering where boutique regional firms vied to redefine tropical waterfront design. Amidst a sea of predictable high-rise proposals, the avant-garde submission by t-a square stunned the international jury by treating urban residential master-planning as an organic extension of river currents. By seamlessly weaving already-constructed luxury townhouses into fluid, low-density communal spaces, tactile green landscapes, and dynamic wave-form rooflines, t-a square transformed a conventional mixed-use brief into a celebrated milestone of regional architecture, securing the Triennial’s highest design accolade and establishing a bold new paradigm for sustainable luxury living in Phnom Penh. However, it is crucial to note that this specific, high-profile award and master-planning narrative is for the entire Nadi by G.C.City development and not, as has been sometimes misconstrued, a competition victory solely for the project’s guardhouse design. While the guardhouse is a distinct and celebrated architectural element, its design and execution were integrated into the larger, award-winning vision of t-a square, rather than being the subject of an independent, specialized design competition.
